HERNDON, Va. - The Interlocking Concrete Pavement Institute
(ICPI) is offering a new course for concrete paver contractors who
specialize in installing advanced segmental concrete pavement
systems in the residential market. The first course will be held on
March 1-2 at the Rosen Shingle Creek Hotel in Orlando, Fla.
The Residential Paver Technician Course provides advanced training
in residential paver installations and covers some of the hottest
topics in outdoor living space design and construction.
Specifically, attendees will learn specialty applications such as
raised and multi-level patios, fireplaces, fire pits, grills,
outdoor kitchens, pool decks and permeable interlocking concrete
pavement.
"ICPI developed the Residential Paver Technician Course in response
to overwhelming industry demand for advanced education for the
residential market," said Ross Causey, ICPI Contractor Education
Subcommittee chairman, course instructor and president of Garden
Square Landscaping. "Attendees will gain knowledge that they can
immediately put into action in their businesses."
The content of the course has been assembled by some of the
industry's top contractor instructors, and is intended to build on
the knowledge introduced in the Concrete Paver Installer Course.
The course consists of two days of classroom training and finishes
with an exam. Upon successful completion of the exam, a participant
receives a Record of Completion. A Residential Paver Technician
designation can be added to Concrete Paver Installer Certification
if the participant also meets the minimum installation experience
requirement. See www.icpi.org/InstallerDesignations for more
details. This program is approved for 13 CE credits of ICPI
Installer Continuing Education.
The course fee is $350 ($250/ICPI members) for the 2-day course,
and includes a student manual and exam. Those interested can
register online at www.icpi.org/orlando.
