HOMEOWNERS ARE SPENDING MORE TO TRANSFORM their outdoor spaces into another room of the house, expanding the overall footprint of the home. With the national economy recovering steadily, consumers are slowly regaining confidence, loosening their purse strings and investing in enhancements for their outdoor rooms.
In part, because of the popularity of outdoor rooms, many outdoor furnishings manufacturers reported double-digit increases during 2013. Most said they are optimistic 2014 will bring continued growth.
Joe Fields, Director of Contractor Services and Sales for EP Henry, a New Jersey-based hardscape company, reported an estimated 10°o increase in both the number and size of outdoor product installations since 2012.
